Background of the Study
Dietary interventions play a crucial role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) by promoting healthier eating habits, reducing risk factors, and improving overall heart health. In Osun State, Nigeria, the prevalence of CVD is on the rise due to changes in dietary patterns, including increased consumption of processed foods, high salt intake, and low consumption of fruits and vegetables (Olayinka, 2023). Nutrition education and dietary intervention programs aim to address these risk factors by promoting balanced diets, portion control, and lifestyle modifications. Evidence from various studies suggests that dietary interventions can lead to significant reductions in blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and overall CVD risk. However, challenges such as cultural food preferences, socioeconomic barriers, and limited access to nutritious foods can hinder the effectiveness of these interventions. In Osun State, public health strategies that incorporate community-based nutrition education and targeted dietary programs are essential for mitigating the rising burden of cardiovascular diseases (Adebisi, 2024). This study will examine the effect of dietary interventions on preventing CVD in Osun State, with the goal of identifying successful strategies and areas for improvement (Ibrahim, 2025).
Statement of the Problem
Despite increasing awareness of the importance of nutrition in preventing cardiovascular diseases, CVD rates remain high in Osun State. Many individuals continue to consume unhealthy diets due to cultural norms, economic constraints, and limited access to fresh produce. Dietary interventions have been implemented, yet their impact on reducing CVD risk is not well documented. The gap between recommended dietary practices and actual eating habits results in persistently high levels of risk factors such as hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia. Furthermore, insufficient monitoring and evaluation of dietary programs make it challenging to determine their effectiveness and scalability. Without robust evidence on the impact of these interventions, public health efforts may not adequately address the dietary determinants of cardiovascular health (Chukwuma, 2023).

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study focuses on adult populations in both urban and rural areas of Osun State. Data will be collected through health assessments, dietary surveys, and focus group discussions. Limitations include potential self-report bias and confounding lifestyle factors.
